EDUCATION IN PORT-HARCOURT RIVERS STATE



EDUCATION  SECTOR
The educational sector in Rivers State has seen great improvement under the current administration. They have built 250 new primary schools, and are targeting another 250 next year.  In which 100 are already under construction this year, by next year they hope to build 150, making it 500 schools in total. Their target is to build 750 new schools by the end of their tenure.
On the secondary school level, the government is building 24 new secondary schools with a budget of nearly 90 billion. Looking at each school sitting on a 25 hectare of land.
The new River State University of Science and Technology, which is located at the new Greater Port Harcourt city is still under construction. It should be a capacity of 60,000 students accommodating students for the next 10 to 15 years

AMAECHI WILL BE TREATED LIKE A TRAITOR -DOKUBO-ASARI

Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari, has described Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State as a traitor. According to him, since the governor joined forces with the North to work against President Goodluck Jonathan, he has betrayed the people of the Niger Delta. Dokubo-Asari, who spoke with journalists on Friday in Abuja, on Jonathan-Amaechi rift among other issues, said the 2015 general elections would “define and decide” the existence of Nigeria. But the Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, told  The PUNCH  that Dokubo-Asari was entitled to his opinion. She said, “I am sure those are Asari-Dokubo’s views. It is a democracy and so everybody has a right to abuse; whether those views are right or wrong is irrelevant.
