At a point during the counting of votes, the arrowhead of the opposition against Mr. Amaechi, Governor Godswill Akpabio, realized the election was being taped and he charged angrily at Mr. Aregbesola. But once Mr. Akpabio turned away, the governor simply resumed his secret recording. With allegation of fraud now up against Mr. Amaechi’s victory from governor’s known to be die-hard associates of the president, the recording is seen as the first documented evidence of a transparent process to crush that concern.

Barely one month after Jesse Jagz left the label following undisclosed reason, another super talented artist, Brymo has left the label. Brymo Initially there had been reported denial from Choc-City insisting Brymo remains an artist with them; a situation now refuted by Brymo. It’s true, I have left Choc City  he tweets. J.Martins is on his way to dropping two mind-blowing singles. The first single titled, Touching Body, is a comic song . He explained that the production of the song stemmed from popular demand by his Francophone friends. It will be a collaboration between himself and DJ Arafat. Award winning Yoruba actor, Saide Balogun may  be revealing the story of his life in a new movie, ‘You or I’ which is due to be released soon. The movie tells the story of love, marriage and the catastrophic effects of divorce. The story is weaving in very powerful narratives played by lead American actor Kevin Barry who is predicted to hold viewers spellbound as he delivers his lines throughout the movie entirely in Yoruba language. OBIO/AKPOR BLAST: POLICE RE-OCCUPY COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS

The authorities of the Rivers State Police Command have said a high- powered investigation committee has been constituted to unravel the circumstances that led to the explosion that rocked Obio/Akpor Local Government Area council headquarters last Tuesday, even as the command has vowed to deal decisively with anyone found culpable in the nefarious act. Mr. Joseph Mbu; CP R/State Police Command The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mbu Joseph Mbu disclosed this while briefing journalists at the police command headquarters in Port Harcourt,last Wednesday. Mbu, who regretted the ugly situation at the council secretariat a few hour after police withdrew from the council following a court order, explained that the police would stop at nothing to ensure that the perpetrators of the act were brought to book.

OWNER OF BOUGAINVILLE HOTEL’S WIFE KIDNAPPED IN PORT HARCOURT CITY

THE wife of an owner of popular Bougainville Hotel, located on Sanni Abacha Road in Port Harcourt, has been kidnapped by a group of gunmen at her residence. The victim, Mrs. Grace Dickson, was said to have been abducted by her assailants at about 11pm on Sunday while she was returning to her house in the Government Reserved Area in Port Harcourt. A source said on Monday that the woman, who is married to a Briton, was accosted by her assailants while trying to drive into the compound. It was learnt that the suspected kidnappers, who were armed, ordered Mrs. Dickson to open the door of the vehicle before they could gain entrance.

Beggar bags 5 weeks imprisonment for criminal trespass, theft

A Grade Two Area Court in Kado, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced one Sani Abubakar to five weeks in prison after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft. The presiding officer, Malam Ahmed Ado, gave the convict an option to pay N2,000 in fine. “I will not do it again. It is because I don’t have clothes; that was why I committed such an offence,’’ the convict said. The police prosecutor, Sgt. Simon Ibrahim, had asked that the convict be tried summarily under Section 157 Sub-Section 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Section 157 (1) states that an accused person’s admission “shall be recorded as nearly as possible in the words used by him’’ if he admits that he has committed the offence of which he is accused. Court dissolves pastor’s marriage over infidelity

An Orile-Agege Customary Court in Lagos on Monday dissolved the four-year-old marriage of one Pastor Segun Fasina and his wife, Abosede, over the wife’s alleged wayward life. The President of the court, Mr Joseph Adewusi, said that the marriage had broken up irreparably. “Starting from today, you seize to be addressed as husband and wife.You shall go your separate ways unmolested. “The petitioner shall pay the sum of N30,000 to the wife to enable her start a business to keep body and soul together,’’ Adewusi ruled. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the petitioner, Fasina, had filed the suit on March 12, seeking dissolution of the union over his wife’s infidelity. Fasina, of 4, Moses St., Alagba, Orile-Agege, told the court that Abosede had lost her sense of dignity and was now smoking and consuming alcohol.

LAGOS  (AFP) – Five foreigners who were kidnapped last month when heavily armed pirates stormed their cargo ship off Nigeria’s oil-producing southern coast have been released, the vessel’s German operator said Tuesday. “Sunship Schiffahrtskontor KG confirms that all of its five crew members who were abducted during the boarding of the City of Xiamen off the coast of Nigeria, on 26 April 2013, were released on 11 May 2013,” a statement said, identifying the hostages as Russian and Polish nationals. Days after the attack, reportedly carried out by 14 well-armed gunmen who forced their way into the ship’s saferoom, a Nigerian security source identified those abducted as Russian, Sri Lankan and a Myanmar national. The company said the sailors were in good health “despite difficult conditions while in captivity”.

NBA demands release of kidnapped S/Court Justice’s wife, daughter & driver

BENIN – THE Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin branch has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Bode Rhodes-Vivour, wife of a Supreme Court Justice, her daughter and driver who were abducted by unknown persons . The association implored security agencies in the state to ensure that the wife of the Supreme Court Justice who is also a lawyer and the two other persons abducted were rescued from the abductors. Abuja – The trial of terrorism suspect, Kabiru Sokoto, continued on Monday before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, with more witnesses giving evidence. The accused, who is originally called Kabiru Umar, is standing trial for his alleged role in the Christmas day bombing of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger, in 2011. Giving evidence, a blind-fold police officer, referred to as “ABC’’ for security reason, said the Madalla attack was not a suicide attack but a coordinated attack. He explained that the accused was privy to the arrangement that led to the bombing of the Church on Christmas day. “ABC’’ said the accused, with seven other alleged Boko Haram members, took steps at various intervals to plant explosives in the vehicle near the Church. The prosecution witness further testified that the explosives caused the death of many people and injured many others.

Iranian jailed for illegal arms shipment in Lagos

– A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday sentenced an alleged member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and his Nigerian accomplice to five years in jail each over an illegal arms shipment. Azim Aghajani and Nigerian Ali Abbas Jega were detained in 2010 when authorities at a Lagos port discovered 13 containers of weapons that had been declared as construction materials. The case attracted wide international attention, in part because it raised questions over whether Iran had violated United Nations sanctions on weapons sales. West African governments also warned that Iran may have been seeking to send weapons to rebel groups in the region. Federal High Court Judge Okechukwu Okeke pronounced the two “guilty as charged” on four of five criminal counts, with the sentences for each count to be served concurrently.
