Akiolu’s son to contest House of Reps seat

Prince Ademola Akiolu, the son of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, will contest the House of Representatives primary in Lagos.
Ademola’s
name was seen on the list of screened Lagos House of Representatives
aspirants at the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress in Ikeja,
on Thursday.
Ademola will have to defeat the incumbent, Mrs. Jumoke Okoya; and five others to clinch the ticket on Sunday.
According
to party sources, Ademola is expected to clear the primary just like
the sons of all APC leaders who participated in House of Assembly
elections on Tuesday cleared the polls.
The
son of the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Jimi, won
the Ikeja constituency 1 election while the son of the chairman of the
party, Chief Henry Ajomale, Dipo, also won in Isolo.
Although
Oba Akiolu is not a card-carrying member of the APC, he is a staunch
supporter of the party, having vowed last week that the Peoples
Democratic Party would never rule Lagos.

FOR a party that had for a long time, sought to reinvent itself in Lagos State, the seemingly frosty relationship between a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, is likely to shape the conduct of the party’s governorship primaries.
Famed for being an old rivalry, the resurgence of the clash of interest between the duo did not take observers aback. But the pattern it has assumed has not stopped being a source of anxiety for party faithful.
The fact that the development makes the party’s dream of presenting a sellable governorship candidate vague, makes the matter more worrisome.

Cynics have perfected the art of telling us that the Lagos of our dreams is not possible. We refuse to agree with them! One million cynics cannot stop the dream of a greater Lagos. While they focus on impossibilities, we focus on a greater Lagos,” he stated.

I think the president has made his statement when he came here and I queue up behind that statement.

Sheikh Muhammad Mahmoud Turi, Leader of El-Zakzaky Muslim Sect in Kano,
on Thursday declared that there is no way the Federal Government can
exonerate itself from the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
The sect leader said the consistent operation of the sect in the
Northeast and other parts of the North indicated that government and its
agencies have a hand in its activities.
Sheikh Mahmoud, who spoke to reporters at NUJ Press Centre, also said
his people would commence a six-day mass trekking ritual from Kano to
Zaria starting from Sunday, December 7, to commemorate the martyrdom of
Imam Hussain, a freedom fighter.
